We were introduced to Professor Chris Martin who turned up at our office with his machine. He is an incredibly engaging and committed individual who has developed a technique for growing human veins. Don't turn away just yet! The problem with heart bypass operations is they have to take a great big vein out of your leg to find a good bit. Chris and his surgeon friends can just snip a little bit out, pop it in the box and grow you a new perfect one, ready to go.
We had to come up with a name that would replace the Frankenstein like automated tissue engineering, we came up with Cultivate, does what it says on the box.
Chris went away to various countries with his box, our stand, a little 4pp brochure, some business cards and raised the money he needed to develop this new technology.
Automated tissue engineering, not as gruesome as it sounds.
