We had been working on the Royal College of Nursing’s (RCN) student materials for a while. The projects included recruitment campaigns, a student guide and merchandise. The most important thing that Navig8 brought to the table was to look at the tone of voice. Nursing students tend to be a bit older than typical students, but they still have a sense of fun. Our task was to take what we had produced in print and apply the same principles to the student section on the RCN website.
We designed a simple framework for the site focusing on ease of navigation and the potential for growth. The site delivers a large amount of information and support for nursing students, so the ability to access information quickly and intuitively was paramount.
RCN have their own in-house web team, so we provided them with the kit to implement the new design and structure. We designed the site to be as easy as possible to update and propagate with content. The transition was smooth and the site now allows students to get the information they need easily as well as highlighting information they might not have known is out there.
