An education project was developed alongside the INTEGER regeneration project in Sandwell in the West Midlands; the education project sought to create learning partnerships between construction and local schools, based on the key issue that the built environment affords extensive teaching and learning opportunities. The project addressed the issues of environment and technology and how they are impacting on construction.
The Department for Trade and Industry in acknowledgement of the project’s success funded the production of a comprehensive suite of learning materials to enhance students’ engagement with the construction industry. Navig8 devised the design of the INTEGER Education Pack capturing and encapsulating the teaching and learning developed by the schools. The pack was unveiled at a National launch at the Baltic Centre in Gateshead as part of National Construction Week.
The education pack was made available to schools across the UK and has been used by children and young people involved in INTEGER projects in Sandwell, Telford, Westminster and Hong Kong; and with project partners including; the Department for Education and Skills, CABE, Constructing Excellence and the British Council.
