The Department for International Development (DFID) and the UK Consortium on HIV and AIDS defined the need for a global portal for HIV/AIDS. This will create a central knowledge base enabling users across the world to create communities and share knowledge based on region, issue, country, etc. It will be the only one of it's kind.
Navig8 were originally asked to look at the branding and user interface. The database (Phase 1) and the interface had been built but proved to be extremely difficult to use. It did not conform to W3C standards and was incompatible with a large amount of platform and browser variations. We gave them the brand, fixed the interface and buill the templates – but we also established that the code did not allow for Phase II and, frankly cost a lot and didn't do a lot. For less than they had spent and in half the time, we rebuilt it, fixed it and allowed for Phase II.
Well, it isn't finished. We were commissioned to develop Phase II and Phase III. Navig8 is responsible for the ongoing development (3 years planned to date). Not to mention a full marketing plan, publicity materials (print and screen) and some extra bells and whistles.
It's an amazing project and it's a pleasure to be involved.
